About the Lapro

Lapro Prototype

The genesis of the Lapro Electric Resonator Guitar came about as the result of experiments with a newly acquired lathe in late 2008. One evening after turning a number of maple bowls, I noticed that a half finished bowl sitting upside down on my bench had the same overall size and proportions as a biscuit-style resonator cone. It occurred to me that it might be possible to make an electric guitar with a turned wood resonator cone. There followed a number of successful experiments and prototypes which culminated in the current Lapro design.

It can cover territory from clean traditional bluegrass to thick electric blues to ethereal and experimental places. Each instrument comes with its own Lapro Squareneck Capo which serves double duty as a string mute when not in place on the neck.

It is Lapro's ultimate vision to produce the highest quality, finest engineered, hand crafted guitars, basses and musical products. And to preserve and maintain existing musical instruments with expert skill and complete dedication to our customers needs.

By focusing our energy on understanding the myriad and changing individual needs of our customers, we hope to provide them with the instrument that becomes an effortless extension of their own creative vision. Just as building and maintaining these instruments is ours.
